ECP notifies minority, reserve seats for women in Punjab, Sindh assemblies

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission issued details of reserved seats for women and minorities in Sindh and Punjab assemblies.

In Sindh Assembly, notification specifies that PPP has been allotted 20 seats for women and 6 for minorities. Additionally, MQM-Pakistan has secured 6 seats and GDA has secured 1 seat. MQM-Pakistan has secured 2 minority seats.

For Punjab Assembly, notifications have been issued for reserved seats, with PML-N securing 36 seats for women, PPP getting three, PML-Q securing two and one seat allocated to woman affiliated with IPP. Decisions are pending on one minority seat in Sindh Assembly and two seats for women.

Similarly, decision could not be reached for reserved seats in Sindh Assembly for independent candidates affiliated with Sunni Ittehad Council.

In Sindh Assembly, number of GDA members has reached 3, PPP has secured 114 seats, and MQM has secured 36 seats.

Out of 66 seats reserved for women in Punjab Assembly, Election Commission did not allocate 24 seats. Similarly, out of eight seats reserved for minorities, no party was allocated separately. Considering numerical representation, Sunni Ittehad Council’s quota for women is 24, with three seats for minorities. Election Commission will finalise allocations by Friday.
