‘Ex-COAS Bajwa showed us path to support PTI’

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi while endorsing his son Moonis Elahi’s remarks said that former COAS General Bajwa advised Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid top brass to support former premier Imran Khan during no-trust motion submitted by opponents in March this year.

Speaking on a private TV channel, Elahi said, “Allah changed our path in last moments and sent Bajwa sahab to show us way.” He revealed that Gen Bajwa told him that Imran Khan was better option when he expressed his concerns about Sharifs before ex-COAS. Elahi said, “I knew that they [Sharif] would not let me to continue [as chief minister] as they have betrayed me in past,” he remarked.

PML-Q leader said his son Moonis played major role in convincing him to support PTI instead of joining Pakistan Democratic Movement alliance.The chief minister maintained that his son Moonis had also suggested to side with the PTI. Commenting on his past experience with the PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, CM Elahi said that there were always apprehensions about the Sharifs “lying”.

Similarly, Moonis Elahi in an interview with private channel revealed that ex-COAS advised them to back PTI when no-confidence motion was moved against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
