Imad Wasim's all-round performance guided the Jamaica Tallawahs to a nerve-wracking 11-run victory over the Saint Lucia Kings in the inaugural match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 on Wednesday.

Opting to bat first, the Jamaica Tallawahs got off to a blazing start, with their openers setting the stage for a formidable total of 187 runs in their allotted 20 overs.

Coming in at number seven, Imad crafted a vital 19 runs off just 14 deliveries, which included one four and a towering six, with a strike rate of 135.71.

As the Saint Lucia Kings embarked on their chase, their top-order faced early setbacks, losing three crucial wickets with just 90 runs on the board.

The left-arm orthodox bowler showcased his prowess with the ball as he picked up the significant wickets of skipper Faf Du Plessis (9), Sikandar Raza (4), and Kimani Melius (0).

His efforts were complemented by Salman Irshad, who also exhibited his bowling prowess by claiming two pivotal wickets – those of Roston Chase (53) and Matthew Forde (4).
