Khar calls for continued inter-faith dialogue to promote peaceful coexistence

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar stressed importance of continued inter-civilisational and inter-faith dialogue to promote peaceful coexistence and harmony.  Addressing 9th Global Forum of United Nations Alliance of Civilisations in Morocco Minister highlighted Pakistan’s perspective and concerns about growing problem of religious intolerance, discrimination, Islamophobia and violence worldwide.  

She particularly drew attention towards state-driven discrimination, hostility and phobia directed against Muslims and Islam and ensuing climate of impunity for such heinous acts.  Hina Rabbani urged international community and United Nations to formulate an action plan to address insidious phenomenon of Islamophobia.  Meanwhile, Minister of State Hina met Saudi Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Waleed ElKhereiji on sidelines of 9th Global Forum of UN Alliance of Civilisations in Morocco.In a tweet, Foreign Office spokesperson said two sides besides exchanging views on important issues reaffirmed ‘fraternal Pakistan-Saudi ties and expressed keenness to expand multispectral partnerships. Minister of State congratulated Saudi Arabia on historic win of team in FIFA World Cup match.
