Law Minister lauds KSA for Makkah convention

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar appreciated leadership of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for undertaking thoughtful initiative of Makkah Al-Mukarrammah Convention.

Minister encouraged OIC member states to consolidate and incorporate good governance in their legal and administrative systems, said a press release received here. Moreover, while underscoring that corruption was multifaceted problem with far-reaching social, economic and political repercussions, he urged member states to take pragmatic steps towards removing all barriers in way of recovery and subsequent repatriation of stolen assets to their countries of origin. Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar participated in first Ministerial meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies of OIC Member States held in Jeddah. Ministers, Deputy ministers and senior officials in-charge of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies of OIC member States participated in meeting.

Meeting adopted Makkah Al-Mukarrammah Convention on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation. Law Minister hoped that Convention would pave way for enhanced accountability and integrity among OIC members states and reiterated need for robust framework for transparency.
