'Let's make a difference, standing side by side with each other'

According to research conducted by BreastCancer.org one in every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some .org one in every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in her life and one in every thirty-eight women will lose her life to this disease.

Through research, growing knowledge about breast cancer, it has led to new therapies and targeted treatments that value-added outcomes for many people. We are thankful to state-of-the-art technology that facilitates early detection and treatment.  We have seen reduction in incidence and mortality rates of breast cancer over past two decades, but number of women affected each year is still fairly high.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Creating mindfulness about breast cancer is important and more pivotal to provide education on matter. It is perfect time to learn more about this disease that distresses lives of so many people.

At Dr. Ziauddin Hospital month of October is taken as a panorama, spreading out breast cancer awareness to inspire and encourage more people who are fighting with disease and supporting survivors. We are actively involved in all kinds of advocacy campaigns. Reflecting on same adherence to commitment, an awareness session was held at Dr. Ziauddin Hospital, Saturday, October 22, 2022 - Organised by Department of Oncology and Quality Assurance.  Event Director Dr. Adnan. A. Jabbar, Professor Medical Oncologist and Chair Oncology Department, Dr. Ziauddin Hospital spoke about momentum required culturally and medically to create a positive impact while providing care, treatment and management to breast cancer patients, supported by effective consulting and counselling to promote patient health. Dr. Quratulain Bader Assistant Professor and Consultant Radiation Oncologist threw light upon radiation therapy in Breast cancer and road to recovery. Session was backed by valuable insights form another dedicated speaker Dr. Zubia Masood Consultant Breast Surgeon who shared her views on importance of Surgical Clinic, dedication of physicians and entire multidisciplinary team who is focused on supporting our patients with most advanced treatment techniques.

Message of day is breast cancer may touch your life, no matter who you are or where you are, it is very important to apprehend and warning signs, know danger, associated risks, get timely screened and above all know how you feel, play against time and don't let it play against you. "Let's close care gap" by aiming on reinforcing our activities towards improving access to quality care, screening, early recognition and detection, appropriate treatment palliative care and compassion.
