Olympic Torch Relay will create harmony, friendship among people, provinces

Karachi: The KP Olympic Association will host the next leg of the Olympic Torch Relay ceremony after completing its journey of Karachi where amid much fanfare and enthusiasm, the National Games Torch for the 34th National Games 2023 was kindled at Quaid-e-Azam Mazar on May 6.  It is now traveling to other cities before reaching Quetta where the Games are scheduled to begin from May 22 to May 30. Torch was officially handed over to Mr. Babar Yousafzai and Mr. Durra Baloch of Balochistan Govt by Mr. Muhammad Jahangir, Dy SG POA, signifying the start of the Olympic Torch Relay. Mr. Ahmed Ali Rajput, Secretary General of the Sindh Olympic Association, received the Torch from the Government of Balochistan and handed it over to the Chief Secretary Sindh, Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput.

The Torch was then carried by Olympian Islahuddin Siddiqui and other international athletes at the Mazar in accordance with Olympic traditions. Torch was then transported to Iqra University, Karachi, where it was received by Dr. Wasim Qazi, Vice Chancellor/President of Iqra University, during a ceremony. Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani was the Chief Guest. Afterwards. Torch was transported to Sir Syed University, Karachi, where it was handed over to the VC, Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin, during another ceremony. Dr. Syed Saif Ur Rehman, Administrator of KMC was the chief guest. The Torch is now being carried by representative of Balochistan Govt to Peshawar, where the KP Olympic Association will host the next leg of the Olympic Torch Relay.
