LAHORE: Justice Asim Hafeez of Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered government to make complete record of Toshakhana from 1990 to 2001 public despite government’s opposition. High Court directed authorities to release all records, saying nothing could be hidden from public view. “Also share name of friendly country who gifted items,” court ordered.

Federal government objected to sharing source of gift and said it would challenge verdict. To this, Justice Asim Hafeez said it is your right to file challenge. “No one can retain gift without making payment,” order stated.

Directives from High Court came on petition of citizen Munir Hafeez who had sought complete details of gifts received by political rulers and bureaucrats from foreign dignitaries since creation of Pakistan.
