UNICEF nominated children's delegation meets Dr. Arif Alvi

Islamabad: Delegation of children nominated by UNICEF met with President Dr. Arif Alvi in regard of International Children's Day. In meeting, delegation shed light on various problems and challenges being faced by children.

President Dr. Arif Alvi said that Pakistan is determined to take steps for rights and welfare of children. Steps are being taken to equip children with education, skills and training. There is need to provide comprehensive education to special children in regular schools.

President further said that equipping special children with skills will help them get employment. Children asked President various questions about climate change, girl education, special children and other challenges they face.

Children told President about their experiences in meeting. Children emphasised need for measures to provide productive environment to grow and flourish in life.

Later, children attended hearing conducted by President in case related to banking sector. Children's delegation was representing children from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Delegation was led by 16-year-old Taqwa Ahmad, UNICEF's first youth advocate in Pakistan.
