Washington: United States (US) has called for respecting democratic principles in response to question regarding political chaos in Pakistan. “I will say, as we’ve said before, we continue to monitor situation in Pakistan very closely. We don’t have position on one political candidate or another inside Pakistan.

“We call for respect and equal application of democratic principles, freedom of expression around and rule of law around world and of course in Pakistan we urge that these principles be respected for all people,” US State Department spokesperson Mathew Miller said during regular briefing. When asked whether US would call for respecting human rights during current situation, Miller said, “Of course we do. As I just said, we always call for respect of democratic principles, freedom of expression and rule of law around world and in Pakistan and in every other country around world.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller also said that US is monitoring situation in Pakistan. Attacks on oil and gas installations in Pakistan are regrettable.

We extend our deepest sympathies to families of those killed and we wish injured a speedy recovery. We are closely monitoring developments,” spokesman said.
