Karachi: Alkhidmat Karachi marked World Environment Day (WED) with an awareness walk by orphan children registered under its Orphan Care programme. Children belonged to Landhi and Korangi clusters were accompanied by their mothers and guardians as well as Amir Jamaat-e-Islami District Korangi Jameel Ahmed Khan and other senior officials.

Banners and placards calling to keep country clean, plant trees and stop pollution were displayed by children who were also given awareness about environmental issues. Jameel Ahmed said that clean and pollution-free environment had direct impact on human life. Trees add beauty to human surroundings while contributing to cleaner air and increased rainfall. Cleanliness was every citizen’s responsibility and urged government and various institutional bodies to do their part in keeping environment clean.
