Islamabad: Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Ishaq Dar here directed for immediate investigation into illegal and unwarranted leakage of tax information of family members of Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

In view of this serious lapse on part of to-date unknown functionaries, finance minister directed Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue, Tariq Mehmood Pasha to personally lead investigation violation of tax law and breach of FBR data, affix responsibility and submit report within twenty-four hours, said a press statement issued by finance ministry.

He took serious notice of illegal and unwarranted leakage of tax information of family members of COAS. This is clearly violation of complete confidentiality of tax information that law provides, he said.

Sources have also confirmed that Dar has ordered Pasha to trace the persons involved as part of the probe. The leaks were revealed in a story by a local journalist in his piece for FactFocus, which calls itself a "Pakistan-based digital news organisation working on data-based investigative stories".
