LAHORE: In an unexpected move, Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi openly supported former Army Chief retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa, saying he and his party would counter any propaganda against General.

In statement, he claimed that Gen (retired) Faiz Hameed had started targeting them (PML-Q) and later he (Faiz) revealed to former Army Chief that PTI Chairman Imran Khan was behind move. “Gen Bajwa is our benefactor so we should not criticise him. To me, Gen Bajwa has countless blessings on them (PTI),” Elahi further said. Taking jibe at PTI Chief, PML-Q leader said Imran Khan used to ignore his son Moonis Elahi during meetings. Despite that PML-Q always sided with PTI. He said that PML-Q endorsed Imran Khan’s decision to dissolve Punjab Assembly, but we could not stab our benefactors in back.

“I told PTI Chairman Imran Khan sahab three months ago that Bajwa sahab is ours, yours and PTI’s mohsin (benefactor) so fear God and don’t speak against him.” He said he had reiterated the same in his meeting with the PTI chief a day ago at Imran’s Zaman Park residence. “He (Imran) replied: ‘I’ve received many requests [not to speak against Bajwa],’ so I said: ‘Then accept them,’” Elahi added.
