HOM, SAF join hands to empower girls’ education

Karachi: Habib Oil Mills (HOM) and Shahid Afridi Foundation (SAF) joined hands to empower girls’ education in country by establishing school-Shahina Perveen Campus under-resourced locality of Ibrahim Haidery.

True motif of school is to encourage girls’ education, about 25 percent boys from district have also been enrolled in school where they will be provided quality education.

A total of 22.5 million children are estimated to be out of school in Pakistan, majority of whom are girls. A total of 32 percent girls and 21 percent boys are still not in schools and it gets worse for girls because only 13 percent make it to ninth grade.

Managing Director Habib Oil Mills Moidul Hassan said, “Number of girls not in schools is alarming and we are hoping to make difference in collaboration with SAF.”

Shahid Afridi Chairman SAF stated, “SAF Education is community-based learning programme that promotes ‘twenty-first-century skills,’ like vocational skills, capacity development and digital literacy.
