Karachi street crimes: Sindh Gov gives warning to police department

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori taking notice of rising street crimes warned police department to be vigilant. Kamran Tessori gave 48-hour ultimatum to police including station house officers and deputy inspector generals to curb street crimes in Karachi. He directed police officers to keep eye on all areas in Karachi while performing their duties.

He announced of monitoring progress in person in this regard. Tessori said that he will question concerned SHOs where street crime incident is reported. He said that strict action will be taken against police for inaction.

He asked Inspector General Sindh to monitor police officials to perform their duties in order to control street crimes.

Street crime data released by police showed deteriorated situation of law and order in Karachi with over 81,000 incidents in 2022. In more than 81 incidents 52,000 motorcycles were stolen or snatched, whereas, 26,400 citizens were deprived of mobile phones.
