Khalid calls for tangible steps to develop technology

Karachi: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui emphasised transitioning from technology adopter to generator. He stressed need to take concrete steps to address Ministry’s challenges and enhance its functionality.

During discussions with heads of different wings of Ministry, Dr. Maqbool stressed cooperation to streamline Ministry functions and tackle existing issues. Pakistan Halal Authority’s role in promoting ‘Halal’ trade and monitoring imports was highlighted in meeting.

It was briefed that Council for Works and Housing Research in Karachi, requires restructuring for improved efficiency as conveyed to Minister.

Notably, Technology Commercialization Corporation of Pakistan will be replaced by Research and Development Agency to enhance collaboration for technological progress. Insights on National Institute of Electronics’ work on electric vehicles and high-demand chip designs were also shared, reflecting focus on advancing technology in Pakistan.
