PM Shehbaz visits Naval Headquarters

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with ministers visited Naval Headquarters. Upon arrival, Prime Minister was welcomed by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and was presented Guard of Honour by smartly turned out naval contingent. Prime Minister laid floral wreath at Shuhada monument and afterwards was introduced to Principal Staff Officers of Naval Headquarters.

During meeting, matters pertaining to regional maritime security milieu and operational readiness of Pakistan Navy were discussed. Naval Chief apprised Prime Minister on roles, capabilities and future modernisation plans of Pakistan Navy.

Later detailed briefing was presented by Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) on prevailing maritime environment, challenges being faced by Pakistan Navy and response by Pakistan Navy to meet challenges. PM was especially apprised about capability requirements of Pakistan Navy to meet current and future challenges being faced by country in maritime domain. PM appreciated services of Pakistan Navy to safeguard maritime interest of country despite limited resources. He especially appreciated professional response of Pakistan Navy to foil recent terrorist attack on Naval Airbase Turbat. Naval Chief thanked Prime Minister for his visit and reposing his confidence in Navy.
