KHUZDAR: A station house officer (SHO) of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was martyred on Sunday in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Balochistan's Khuzdar.

The police officer was identified as SHO Murad Baksh Jamot. Police sources confirmed that the blast took place in the Sultan Ibrahim Chowk area of Khuzdar city. As soon as the incident was reported, a heavy contingent of Balochistan Levies reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and started searching a search operation. Balochistan Caretaker Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki expressed his condolences and paid tribute to the martyred officer.

Domki strongly condemned the incident and called for an investigation and the report to be submitted soon. He added that terrorists involved in the attack should be arrested and brought to justice.

Earlier on Dec 5, six individuals, including four children, fell victim to a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) blast on the outskirts of Peshawar. The incident occurred near a private school.
