QUETTA: Death toll from targeted suicide attack on police truck in Quetta rose further as another child died during treatment hours after bombing, taking number of casualties to four. A suicide bomber targeted truck transporting policemen for security of polio workers during ongoing drive in Quetta’s Baleli area this morning, killed a cop and a child on spot and reportedly left 26 including 23 cops wounded.
Death toll climbed as woman and her child injured in bombing succumbed to their injuries at different times, later in day, hospital administration shared.

Both deceased children were siblings, they added. Earlier, hospital administration had said that most of injured are out of danger. Law enforcement agency said in initial statement that police truck was targeted in explosion. They said that injured cops and civilians were rushed to nearby hospital. Police and rescue teams rushed to site of explosion as soon as incident was reported. Assistance from bomb disposal squad was also sought. Quetta Deputy Inspector General Ghulam Azfar Mahesar in a media talk at crime scene, confirmed that explosion was suicide attack as they have found remains of suicide bomber near crime scene. He said that police truck toppled due to explosion and fell into a ravine.

As per DIG, three vehicles including police truck and two nearby cars were damaged in explosion. He stated that around 20-25 kilogrammes of explosives were used in attack. Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, while condemning attack shared that he has summoned report of incident from Balochistan Government.
