President, PM vow not to let terrorism harm anti-polio efforts

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned suicide attack at police van deputed on security of an anti-polio team and said such nefarious designs would not be allowed to harm country’s commitment to eliminate disease.

In their separate statements on terrorist incident in Quetta’s Baleli area, President and Prime Minister expressed their resolve to continue efforts till complete end of polio. President Alvi paid tribute to efforts of health workers and police personnel for saving children of country from crippling disease. He prayed for forgiveness of souls of deceased and for early recovery of wounded. PM Shehbaz Sharif said polio workers across country were fulfilling their responsibilities without caring about their lives. 

He stressed that eliminating polio virus from country was amongst top priorities of government and vowed not to rest until polio was completely eradicated. He asserted that ‘evil elements’ would fail to harm anti-polio campaign in country.
