Banjul: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called for declaration of an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, opening of humanitarian corridor and urged international community to hold Israel accountable for its military offensive in besieged enclave.
Dar is representing Pakistan at 15th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation summit in Banjul. Besides attending OIC summit, he will also hold bilateral meetings with dignitaries from member countries.
He expressed Pakistan’s “Deep concern” about ongoing “Genocide and starvation of Gaza people” and called for reactivation of OIC’s Ministerial Committee on Israeli aggression against Palestinians, offering Pakistan’s assistance to body.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for Palestinian people’s “Inalienable right to self-determination” and stated that only permanent solution to crisis lay in creation of “Secure, viable, contiguous and sovereign state of Palestine based on pre-June 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital”.
Dar strongly condemned “Oppressive state action in Indian-held Kashmir, including extrajudicial killings and media blackouts”. He pledged Pakistan’s “Unwavering diplomatic support” for Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as mandated by relevant UNSC resolutions.
