KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) committed yet another big fraud by misguiding consumers that it has 2001 feeders of 11KV.

But at same it claims that it has total of 2,084 feeders out of which 640 (30.71 percent) are declared as load shedding feeders having ML: 188 (Medium Loss), HL: 193 (High Loss) and VHL: 259 (Very High Loss).

KE already said that it has distribution recoveries of 94.9 percent, but on other hand it claims distribution losses at 14.6 percent and distribution feeders shedding at 30 percent loss. These contradictions have been disclosed by Aneel Mumtaz, Associate Engineer (Electrical) who is going to release another well documented fraud of KE Company after his earlier Volume-69 September 18,-2023.

Aneel addressed this volume to Chairman and members of NEPRA, Secretary Energy and Power Division Islamabad. Copies were dispatched to Director General FIA Islamabad, Director FIA Sindh Zone-I Karachi, Auditor General of Pakistan Islamabad and IG Sindh Police along with DIG Karachi South, but amazingly none of them so far responded or reacted against biggest scam of country in power sector. Instead KE has victimised and disconnected home supply of electricity of Aneel Mumtaz since May 14, 2023.

Most hilarious news from KE is that on Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) on Friday countrywide sacred holiday but KE did not curtail load shedding. Instead it further enhanced many hours load shedding on two midnights of Thursday and Friday, which is being considered criminal and anti-state offence by responsible institution that jeopardised night prayers of Muslim population. While on occasion of other religious holidays and usually on Sunday its load shedding is softened even on cricket matches live coverage is facilitated by this utility.

On other hand KE management claims that it is energizing Karachi for over one hundred years. Through network spanning across 6,500 square kilometres, KE supplies power to all residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural areas that fall under city’s ambit and beyond, serving over 3.4 million customers across Karachi, Dhabeji and Gharo in Sindh and Uthal, Vinder and Bela in Balochistan. Company has ten member Board of Directors namely Mark Gerard Skelton, Adeeb Ahmad, Arshad Majeed Mohmand, Dr. Imran Ullah Khan, Mubasher H. Sheikh, Muhammad Kamran Kamal, Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Saad Amanullah Khan, Shan A. Ashary and Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi.

Out of these Directors, Dr Imran Ullah Khan is currently serving as Joint Secretary (Corporate Finance), Finance Division, Government of Pakistan.  Syed Moonis Alvi joined KE in 2008 held key roles in Organisation as CFO, Company Secretary and Head of Treasury prior to his appointment as CEO in 2018.

Muhammad Zubair Motiwala is an industrialist by profession was elected as President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry for period 2000-2001.

He was former Chairman Sindh Board Investment from July 2011 to October 2013. He was Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Investment from January 2009 to July 2011. But he is most controversial character as on one hand he is sitting in Board while on other he runs agitation campaigns and holds press conferences against utility. Hence, he is equally responsible for crimes of KE against its consumers and unlawful load shedding in city.
