CDA auctions 23 plots worth Rs37 billion in non-transparent way

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has auctioned 23 plots worth Rs 37 billion in and irregular and non-transparent way, it has been learnt.

The PAC meeting reviewed the audit reports of the CDA and expressed annoyance over the practice. The PAC member said that the civic body had been involved in corrupt practices since years but nobody is here to question it.  In the meeting, it was revealed that the CDA had not prepared a financial statement, while the CDA member finance also admitted this fact. The CDA member finance said that our financial statement for 2023-2024 has been prepared and will be submitted soon.

Member committee Syed Hussain Tariq said that this is not how it is done. The Chairman CDA assured that statements for the coming years will be prepared, while the Interior Secretary said that I will try to ensure that this wouldn’t happen in the future. Syed Naveed Qamar said that someone should be held responsible, the audit should look into this matter, to which the audit officials said that the CDA’s matters are very complicated.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Interior said that give us two months and we will fix everything. The Chairman CDA said that it will take us 6 months to prepare the financial statement. The Chairman PAC said that it is okay, give us all financial statements in 6 months. Qasim Noon criticized and said that the CDA is the most corrupt institution, corruption has been going on for years and no one is going to ask questions. The PAC has directed to send the matter of non-transparent auction to the DAC.
