LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan claimed that plan was made to assassinate him like former Punjab Governor and Pakistan Peoples’ Party leader Salmaan Taseer.

Addressing press conference through video link, he claimed that Naveed who fired bullets during PTI’s long march in Wazirabad to assassinate him was highly trained.  Imran Khan demanded formation of powerful committee under Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial’s supervision to probe Wazirabad assassination bid.

Khan said, “I earlier stated this as well that I only hope for justice from one place [SC] as powerful people will not allow investigation to take place.” Regarding video statement of suspect, PTI Chairman asked who was behind video statement and releasing it to media, adding that Wazirabad DPO forwarded video to reporters who were reporting against his party and who asked Counter-Terrorism Department to record another video.  “I have not got First Information Report of incident despite repeated efforts,” he said and asked who was afraid of FIR.

Khan said Wazirabad attack suspect’s statement turned out to be lie in polygraphic test which made it clear that Naveed was prepared and sent. “Naveed said that he had no training in firing pistol,” he said, adding that Naveed, just like Khwaja Asif was not religious man. PTI Chairman further said intention of three shooters was to kill him in planned manner.
