Int’l mushaira to be held in Karachi, Commissioner praises organisers

Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Salim Rajput said that government is taking great steps for promotion of literature and culture. Sakinan-e-Shahar-e-Quaid will organiee mushaira on April 20 at Expo Centre.

He said international Mushaira in city every year is important in term of promotion of Urdu poetry and literature. And there is positive effort, such efforts should continue. Talking to delegation under leadership of chief organiser Ahmad Khan where Khalid Jameel Shamsi, Nadeem Zafar Siddiqui, Toqeer A. Khan, Dr. Shabbir Arain and Jamal Azhar were also present, Commissioner was told that renowned local and foreign poets will participate in mushaira. Narge number of poets are expected to participate. Apart from Karachi, poets from Islamabad, Lahore, Azad Kashmir, Bahawalpur, Abbottabad and Gwadar are being invited to participate in mushaira.

Poets from America, Britain, Germany, Canada, Bahrain and Qatar are expected to participate in mushaira. Commissioner said that tradition of organising international mushaira in Karachi has strengthened government’s policy of promoting cultural, literary, cultural and positive activities in city. This type of efforts should continue. Administration will provide all possible support for success of mushaira. He said that government has provided ample opportunities for promotion of literary and cultural activities in Karachi. He said that Karachi has become role model for whole country in terms of literature and cultural. He said that series of literary and cultural activities should continue in city, this has given citizens who are interested in literature and poetry, especially youth, an opportunity to participate in positive activities.
