KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) under Groundwater Regulation 2024 All interested applicants who use ground water in various sectors are informed to submit their application form by last date of their respective category because form will not be received after last date, last date for submission of application for category A is July 30, last date for category B is July 20, while last date for category C, D and E is August 10, 2024. According to KWSC officials, new management of Water Corporation has once again said in its clear statement that underground water licenses will be issued in accordance with all rules and regulations and transparency and no underground license will be issued to any operators against whom any FIR or case has been registered in past, according to officials, special squad has been formed to take action against all illegal uses of groundwater after deadline, under which all their illegal licensed connections lines boring and tanks will be broken and cases will be registered against them by taking legal action under new Water Corporation Act, in addition they will be fined Rs 5 million.

It should be clear that Water Corporation has completed first phase by publishing public notice in newspapers on June 27, 2024 for issuing underground licences and now forms are being released to interested applicants in second phase, so far 65 application forms have been received from Water Corporation after publication of public notices in newspapers, including 7 in category A, 57 in category B and 1 in category C, applications received will be thoroughly reviewed as per rules. Besides this, detailed letter has been sent to industrial association by Water Corporation and its focal person has also been nominated, in which, Member Ground Water Committee for Korangi Landhi and Bin Qasim Trade Industries Association Khalid Farooqui, Member Ground Water Committee for Site Federal B Area and North Karachi Trade Industries Association Hasnain Abbas, and Secretary Ground Water Committee for Site Super Highway Industries Association, Obaid Ur Rahim has been nominated? it should be noted that 10 days are left to get application form for Category B Ground Water.
