Dubai: Liverpool took a significant step toward the Premier League title with a 2-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, extending their lead at the top to 11 points.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai secured a victory that left their travelling supporters chanting “we’re going to win the league” as City’s fans exited early.

Salah’s performance further cemented his status as one of Liverpool’s greats. His goal and assist took his season tally to 30 goals and 21 assists, making him only the third Liverpool player, after Roger Hunt and Ian Rush, to reach 30 goals in five separate campaigns. Arne Slot’s side made their intentions clear early on, pressing City high and capitalising on their chances. Salah opened the scoring with his 30th goal of the season, a set-piece played brilliantly by Szoboszlai. Salah then turned provider for Szoboszlai, who doubled Liverpool’s advantage before half-time. Liverpool’s latest win, combined with Arsenal’s loss to West Ham, places them firmly in control of the title race.
