JEDDAH: Executive Committee of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) emergency meeting has condemned continuous Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Masjid and called for mobilizing efforts to protect Al-Quds Al-Sharif. Meeting at OIC headquarters in Jeddah took place on request of Palestine and Jordan in coordination with Saudi Arabia, current chair of Islamic Summit and chair of Executive Committee to discuss recent developments in Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa Masjid. A communique was adopted by Committee condemning the Israeli aggression on Al-Aqsa Masjid.

Saudi Permanent Representative to OIC, Dr. Saleh Hamad Al-Suhaibani affirmed that continuous Israeli attacks on blessed Al-Aqsa Masjid and brotherly Palestinian people constitute provocation to feelings of millions of Muslims and fuel conflict, extremism and instability in region, in addition to being flagrant violation of relevant international resolutions. He stressed that Kingdom supports all efforts aimed at reaching just and comprehensive solution to Palestinian issue to enable Palestinian people to establish their independent Palestinian state on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with resolutions of international legitimacy and Arab peace initiative.

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Ibrahim Taha affirmed that Israeli attacks against blessed Al-Aqsa Masjid are an offense against feelings and beliefs of Muslims around world, as well as flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions. He called for responsible international action that compels Israel to stop these serious violations in order to preserve existing historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Masjid as place of worship for Muslims alone.
