PM Shehbaz, Italian envoy discuss matters of bilateral interest

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan-Italy relations are marked by growing bilateral cooperation as well as commonality of views on a whole range of regional and global issues.

Talking to Ambassador of Italy in Pakistan Andreas Ferrarese, Prime Minister termed Italy a close friend of Pakistan and a reliable partner, both bilaterally and in EU context. Appreciating Italy’s support in context of EU’s preferential trading GSP Plus scheme, he stressed need to further harness existing potential to enhance trade and investment relations between two countries. He said that Pakistan would be particularly interested in collaborations in renewable energy sector in which Italy has made remarkable progress. PM also highlighted immense cooperation that Pakistan continued to extend to international community in wake of situation in Afghanistan, particularly since August last year. Italian Ambassador thanked Prime Minister for receiving him and expressed his resolve to further increase and diversify existing ties between Pakistan and Italy.
