KARACHI: A two-day Sustainable Tourism Forum, jointly organized by the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), and the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), is all set to take place on January 30, 2025, in Karachi.

The forum will be graced by the Governor of Sindh as the Chief Guest.  The forum has attracted a large number of foreign participants from countries such as Turkey, Iran, Jordan, Singapore, Indonesia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Iraq and Burkina Faso. The Iranian delegation, led by the Governor of Iran, will also participate in the forum. Pakistan's tourism industry boasts immense potential, with a rich cultural heritage, breathtaking natural beauty, and warm hospitality.

As a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Pakistan shares a significant portion of the world's cultural and natural heritage with other OIC countries.  According to the President of FPCCI, "It is imperative that we develop sustainable tourism practices that prioritize environmental conservation, social responsibility, and economic benefits for local communities. We must work together to promote cultural heritage preservation and community-based tourism projects." The forum aims to unlock the full potential of Pakistan's tourism industry, create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and showcase the country's rich cultural heritage to the world.

Key discussion topics will include sustainable tourism development, cultural heritage preservation, and community-based tourism projects.  "We are committed to promoting sustainable tourism practices in Pakistan and contributing to the growth of the OIC tourism market," said the President FPCCI. "This forum will provide a valuable platform for stakeholders to come together and explore opportunities for collaboration and cooperation."
