President’s Cup One-Day tournament to commence on Oct 3

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the President’s Cup One-Day tournament will commence from October 3 across five cities.

President’s Cup will feature nine departmental cricket teams. The two semi-finals will be played on October 13-14, while the final of the tournament will be staged on October 16. All the matches will be day with the first ball expected to be bowled. Venues and start time for the semi-final and final will be announced in due course.

A prize pot of PKR7.75 million will be up for grabs as the winner of the tournament will bag Rs 5 million while the runners-up will collect Rs 2.5 million. Higher Education Commission, Khan Research Laboratories, State Bank of Pakistan and Water and Power Development Authority are placed in Group A, while Eshaal Associates, Ghani Glass, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, Pakistan Television and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited are part of Group B. SNGPL, winners of previous edition of President’s Cup, will play their opening match of tournament against Ghani Glass on October 3 at Saeed Sports City Bedian, Lahore. Group A matches will take place in Abbottabad, Islamabad and Rawalpindi while the Group B matches are set to be staged in Faisalabad and Lahore.
