TIKA support for newborn health, donates hearing screening devices

Karachi: Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) donated five hospitals operating in with 5 new technology Newborn Hearing Screening devices to be used in newborn departments of hospitals and more than 100 health personnel were given hearing screening training.

Within scope of Mother and Child Health Support Programme (MCHSP) conducted by TIKA, more than one hundred health staff from more than ten different health institutions were introduced to screening devices and theoretical and practical training in field of hearing screening was provided by experts from Türkiye.

Muhammad Qasim Soomro, Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Health of Sindh, Oguz Kozanli, Vice Consul of Consulate General of T.C. Karachi, Halil Ibrahim Basaran, TIKA Karachi Coordinator, Koohi Goth Hospital officials, academics, NGO representatives and health workers participated in inaugural programme at Koohi Goth Women’s and Maternity Hospital.

Soomro said that Sindh government held negotiations with TIKA for children’s hospital planned to be established in Sindh, one of these projects. Thanking Türkiye specifically for TIKA’s projects in field of health, Soomro stated new technology devices provided by TIKA in field of hearing screening will make significant contributions to early diagnosis of hearing problems of newborn children in Pakistan.

Oguz Kozanli stated that projects carried out by TIKA contributed greatly to relations between two countries. Kozanli stated that technology transfer project in field of hearing screening is very important for future generations of Pakistan.

Halil Ibrahim Basaran said that each of projects carried out by TIKA with its two offices in Pakistan is brick laid on bridge of brotherhood and friendship between Türkiye and Pakistan and as TIKA, we will continue to produce projects to further strengthen this bridge.

New technology devices that provide ease of use for newborn babies, provided by TIKA were delivered to authorities of Koohi Goth Hospital, Liaquat University of Medical Health Sciences University Hospital, Jinnah Training and Research Hospital, Al Mustafa Hospital and Alkhidmat Hospital where total of more than 50 thousand births take place annually.
