Vast opportunities for domestic, foreign investment in energy sector: Minister Energy

Karachi: Sindh Minister of Energy, Development and Planning Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that there are vast and profitable opportunities for domestic and foreign government delegations in energy in Sindh, while Sindh is Pakistan’s energy hub, which has 55,000 MW of wind corridor 10 GW solar potential.

Meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, Minister Energy said that 1845 MW of electricity is being generated from wind and 250 MW of solar energy is being provided to national grid in provincial Sindh.

Meeting was informed that work on various projects to generate 100 MW of electricity from waste, 15 MW from water, 400 MW from floaton solar and 500 MW from green hydrogen technology is also in progress. Meeting was informed that with support of World Bank, all government buildings are being shifted to solar. 400  MW solar park is being built.

British High Commissioner appreciated efforts of Sindh government and especially energy department in various energy projects while appreciating same, he assured that will use all possible efforts and measures to attract British investors to invest in energy sector in Sindh.

Nasir Shah thanked British High Commissioner for his arrival and his ideas and assured mutual cooperation and single window facilities to British investors

Chairman Planning Board Sindh Najam Ahmad Shah, Secretary Energy Department Kazim Jatoi, Director Sindh Coal Authority Haq Nawaz Shar, Director Alternative Energy Mahfooz Qazi and other concern officers were also present on this occasion.
