Interim CM praises SBR for tax collection

Karachi: Interim Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar said that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has received 22 billion rupees from industrial establishments of Sindh.

It has been submitted that this money of Sindh should be given to provincial government soon. Presiding over Sindh Revenue Board (SBR) meeting where SBR Chairman Wasif Memon gave detailed briefing to caretaker Chief Minister about Workers’ Welfare and Participation Fund. He said that SBR released workers welfare and participation funds to 5,200 industrialists. In terms of welfare funds, Sindh Revenue Board workers received 7.562 billion rupees from 527 industrial contributions in terms of welfare funds, which is 35 percent more than last year. SBR has issued 267 show notes for receipts of 40 billion rupees in workers’ welfare funds. Against receipts of 40 billion rupees, 6.1 billion rupees have been deposited with inspector of Sindh High Court. Caretaker CM issued instructions to advocate general for recovery of 31 billion rupees collected in different funds. 303 short payment notes have also been issued for receipts of 27 billion rupees from various institutions on instructions of caretaker CM. Assessment orders have been passed for receivables from 80 institutions through bank. SBR is doing its best to achieve workers welfare and workers participation. Target of 6.3 billion rupees was set in first six months of current financial year, while SBR achieved 7.562 billion rupees, i.e. 1.262 billion rupees more than set target, which is great achievement.

Caretaker Chief Minister said that FBR has received 22 billion rupees from industrial enterprises of Sindh, we have placed matter before interim Prime Minister to get this money be given soon. He said that money will be spent for welfare of workers.

Meanwhile, Maqbool Baqir congratulated successful candidates in Karachi Press Club elections. He said, “I congratulate elected President Saeed Sarbazi, Secretary Shoaib Ahmed, Vice President Rashid Memon, Joint Secretary Muhammad Munsif Khan, Treasurer Ehtsham Saeed Qureshi and Governing Body members Shams Careo, Shazia Hasan, Noor Muhammad Kalhoro, Nawab Qureshi and Mona Siddiqui.”

I congratulate all members of Democrats panel including Rana Javed, Shoaib Ahmed on their success. He hoped that newly elected panel would serve journalists better.

Maqbool Baqir also congratulated people of Pakistan, especially Sindh on New Year and said that new year dawns with new aspirations, new passions and new aspirations for countrymen.

He said that we should unite with each other with love and brotherhood. Caretaker CM said that it is responsibility of all of us to take care of cleanliness and beauty of our cities.
