Karachi: Senior politicians formerly associated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement Raza Haroon and Anees Advocate, along with their comrades joined Pakistan Peoples’ Party as electioneering picks up pace ahead of February 8 general elections

Announcement of their affiliation with PPP came after duo met former President and party’s co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari. Haroon, who also served as provincial minister, earlier joined former Karachi Mayor Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party in 2016, but later left this faction as well. On other hand, Anees was also an MQM dissident who joined PSP in 2016.

An official statement issued by PPP said that Zardari welcomed Haroon and Anees, who were former members of MQM’s Rabita Committee, to party.

Politicians discussed “Charter of Karachi” regarding development, establishment of peace and security, and friendly environment in city during meeting. Asif Ali Zardari said that PPP’s Charter of Karachi will have far-reaching impact on future of city. He said that PPP is party of people of Karachi.

Pledging to introduce policies that prioritise people’s welfare, ex-foreign minister announced plan, which his party is to enforce if they are voted into power by people in upcoming polls.
