Regional Director Sindh Ombudsman conducts awareness seminar

Karachi: On the instructions of Ombudsman Sindh, Suhail Ahmed Rajput an awareness seminar was successfully held by the Regional Director, Mohtasib, District Keamari/West, Karachi, at Govt. Degree Girls College, 11-C, Orangi Town yesterday.

The program aimed to educate students, particularly female students, and faculty about the Ombudsman’s institution, its role in governance, and its efforts in addressing maladministration and malpractice. It emphasized the provision of administrative justice at the doorsteps of the people of Sindh, free of cost. The seminar included the following segments: recitation of the Holy Quran & Naat, National Anthem, Welcome Address, Presentation on the Ombudsman’s Institution by Aftab Ahmad Khatri, Regional Director, District Keamari/West, delivered a presentation on the Ombudsman’s role in promoting transparency, administrative justice, the procedure for filing complaints, and the resolution of grievances for the public and child/students.

Also, an interactive Question & Answer session where Aftab Ahmad Khatri and Salahuddin Siddiqui addressed queries from students and faculty, clarifying the Ombudsman’s functions and encouraging students to actively inform the people in their vicinity about the Sindh Ombudsman’s office. Later, shields and certificates were presented to participants by Aftab Ahmad Khatri in recognition of their engagement, and to students who raised questions regarding the role of the Ombudsman and their role in society.

Professor Abdul Majeed Tanwari introduced the event’s objectives, emphasizing the importance of public grievance redressal mechanisms. The Principal of the Govt. College appreciated the initiative of the Sindh Ombudsman regarding the awareness seminar and added that such programs build confidence among students. Ms. Ameer Bano, Senior Fellow, District Keamari/West, Karachi, concluded the program with appreciation for all attendees and encouraged future sessions in government colleges on governance and administrative justice.
