‘US to provide Pakistan new types of kinnow, says Consul General’

ISLAMABAD: American Consulate General in Lahore William K. Makaneole said that Pakistan would be provided new superior types of kinnow, so that it could become one of top exporters of ‘kinnow’ in world.

Expressed his views along with Political and Economic Chief at US Consulate Lahore Kathleen Gibilisco while inaugurating ‘Kinnow Factory’ on Ajnala Road Bhalwal Consulate General said that America wished Pakistan to develop its economy in all sectors including agriculture and bring its economy to prominent position. He said that Sargodha will be supplied with better and superior types of kinnow very soon. He viewed different phases of kinnow processing in factory from grading to export to other countries.

Factory was set up by Chaudhry Shoaib Ahmad Basra former President Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Former president of Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chaudhry Shoaib Ahmed Basra said that so far in current season, Pakistan has exported 20,000 tons of kinnow to various countries including Canada, Kuwait, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Iran, Iraq, Philippines and Russia through 800 containers.

Chaudhry Shoaib Ahmed Basra and Hasan Yusuf presented gifts of ‘kinnow’ to American Consulate General.
