Joint efforts needed to overcome country’s economic, social crisis: Gov Tessori

HYDERABAD: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori said that joint efforts were needed to overcome economic crisis that was created by previous regime. Talking to media persons at Hyderabad Press Club and later addressed programme at Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries he said, “We are passing through an economic and social crisis which needs to be resolved on an immediate basis”.

Referring to Imran Khan, Governor said “Political party” leader had plunged country into an economic and social mess as result of which poor people suffered lot. Governor said due to flawed policies of previous regime, middle class had disappeared from country, “Now only two social classes remained.”

On queries raised over digital census, Governor said that he had conveyed concerns to Census Commissioner who had assured that after consulting with Minister Ahsan Iqbal, he (commissioner) would respond within week.

Kamran said he held meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad and PM assured to visit Hyderabad during current month (before Ramadhan) to lay foundation stone of Hyderabad University.

Replying to question about ban on TV channel, Governor said he was against such ban as in democratic government media must be free to work as per rules and regulations.

He invited journalists of Hyderabad to visit Governor House and said he believed in resolving issues of journalists’ community. Replying to question, Tessori said government was taking steps to maintain law and order, curb street crimes and resolve traffic issues of city.

HPC President Lala Rehman Samo presented traditional gift of Ajrak and Sindhi Topi to Governor. HPC Secretary Hameed Rehman, other office bearers and members of Club were present.

Later, addressing function organised by HCCI, Governor said economic policies must be formulated with consultation of business community so that desired results could be achieved.

He assured city’s business community that their issues would be resolved on priority basis. HCCI President Adeel Siddiqui and other office bearers welcomed Governor.

Kamran Tessori participated in Holi programme at Shiv temple inside circuit house and cut cake. He greeted Hindu community on their religious event and visited different parts of temple.
