ISLAMABAD: Awam Pakistan Party chief Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the United States cannot do anything for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Expressing his thoughts on private TV ", Abbasi emphasised that Imran Khan must reform himself, as the country cannot progress without such changes. Abbasi also discussed the uncertain situation arising from the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stating that previously such matters were dealt with within the bounds of ethics. Recalling the past, Abbasi referenced former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's bold decision to conduct nuclear tests following India's actions, stating that Pakistan had no choice but to respond.

On foreign relations, Abbasi pointed out that Europe faces a threat from Russia, while the US is preoccupied with deal-making. He mentioned that Pakistan must balance its relations with both Russia and Europe, and can play a bridging role between the two. Abbasi stressed that Pakistan should maintain relations with everyone. He pointed out that while the US has constantly pressured Pakistan to reduce ties with China, China has never made such a demand, instead encouraging positive relations with all countries. Discussing domestic politics, Abbasi expressed a desire for the opposition to come to a consensus, mentioning that the APP has advocated for the release of political prisoners. He stated that the current situation in the country is neither constitutional nor principled.

He criticised the country's political approach, saying that leaders were being alternated, which only created division. Abbasi believed that if unity were to be restored, Imran Khan, too, could find relief.Commenting on the PTI, Abbasi said: "The party's popular support but stressed that if the PTI maintained the same approach it did during its four years in power, it would gain no benefit." He advised Imran Khan to reflect on his mistakes, stating that PTI needs the most reform. He said, "While, the PTI made mistakes, the subsequent government only exacerbated them."

Abbasi said: "The PTI consists of its founder, supporters, and workers, but the leadership holds no true significance."
