KWSC Chief to attend Global 300 Water Leaders Group meeting

Karachi:  Global 300 Water Leaders Group UK invited Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, CEO/MD Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) to join Global Water Summit going to be held in London on April 15-17, 2024.  Theme of Global Water Summit this year is ‘Security for Changing Planet’.

According to KWSC, aim at conference this year is to promote connection between water security, climate change and broader sense that water investment can bring economic and environmental stability to our planet.  Salahuddin Ahmed will participate in some of high-level discussions. Some of key topics at Development Finance Dialogue sessionwill include innovations that could  close gap between utilities looking to deliver SDG6 and financial institutions looking to support them. Efficient utilities: unlocking funds for SDG6 expansion. By tackling lost or stolen water, utilities can boost revenues, improve investor confidence and save precious treated water to expand their coverage and how can efficiency gains lead to an acceleration of SDG6 expansion?

William Muhairwe Executive Director Global Water Leaders Group after holding workshops in Vietnam, Côte d’Ivoire and Mexico, 300 water leaders Initiative has gained powerful momentum and Global Water Summit is where benefits of this global network will come to fruition.

Gala dinner will also be hosted on April 16, to facilitate Global Water Awards, where event will recognise most important achievements in international water industry. Award-’SDG6 Champion’ for first time will recognise utility leader with most inspirational and ambitious roadmap to SDG6, judged by initiative’s steering committee.  Salahuddin Ahmed said that Pakistan is facing water security issues and event is critical to deliberate on it. “We at KWSC are reshaping utility and ensuring water security for this mega port city of Pakistan.” He said that water security in Karachi shall be attained by aggressive measures on Non-Revenue Water Reduction by curtailing both physical and commercial losses. Moreover, KWSC is pursuing active strategies on diversifying water resources and tapping potential of wastewater treatment at industrial grade.
