KARACHI: Incompetence of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation’s medical department deprived of employees of provision of medicines. Dvago Pharmacy has refused to give medicines to ailing employees including chronic diseases like diabetes and blood pressure.

During visit to clinic set up at head office, affected employees told this correspondent that issue has been going on since past several months. Instead of 1,500 medicine, meagre medicines are provided, according to employees.

Dvago Pharmacy gives only five to six hundred rupees medicines instead of prescription of Rs 1,500 with advice to visit next week. Water Corporation officers have given this order, pharmacy claimed.

Dr. Barmanand Jasrani Director of medical services of Water Corporation was not available despite several contact were made on matter. Even WhatsApp message was no responded. Representative met DMD Finance Water Corporation Syed Iftikhar Shah in this regard and inquired about his position. Iftikhar Shah said that he had received bills of about Rs 6 million from DeVago Pharmacy which have been cleared, cheques will also be issued in two or three days, he said. If there are bills lying with Director of Medical Services, they will be cleared as they come to him.

Iftikhar Shah said that solving problems of serving and retired employees of Water Corporation is first priority. They are understanding system and will overcome all problems soon. Chairman of Muttahida Workers Front CBA Irshad Khan condemning closure of medical facilities said that employees are suffering due to incompetence of management. We have been warning management time and again but it seems they are not paying attention. New DMD Finance is also failing to manage issues. They have no experience in this field and neither have they understood it.

Irshad Khan demanded employees’ medical should be restored immediately. In this regard, President CBA Abdul Qayyum Zai said that it is miracle of MD’s vision that person who destroyed finance, medical, today is owner of RRG then same will happen again. Recovery of Water Corporation will also be affected in coming days.

Administrative officer present at clinic, Muhammad Salman Siddiqui said that this matter is not his company’s Khan Consultants. Affected employees said for about 15 days, Dvago Company has completely stopped providing medicines.
