KARACHI: A former renowned English footballer, Michael Owen, inaugurated the Ziauddin University's Football Ground during his visit to Karachi. The event took place opposite Ziauddin University's Clifton campus.

During the ceremony, Owen expressed his excitement and optimism for the future of football at the university, emphasizing the importance of such facilities in nurturing young talent and promoting the sport at a grassroots level, specifically in Pakistan.

Michael Owen is a retired professional footballer from England, renowned for his prolific goal-scoring ability. Owen played as a striker for top clubs including Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Stoke City. He won the Ballon d'Or in 2001, highlighting his exceptional talent and contributions to the sport.

Michael Owen, while inaugurating the Ziauddin University Football Ground, stated, "I am honored to be here today at Ziauddin University, a place dedicated to nurturing both academic and athletic potential. This new football ground is an important development, not just for the university but for the entire community.

Pakistan has considerable potential in football, with a wealth of young talent eager to grow. With the right support and infrastructure, there is a promising future for football here. This facility symbolizes a step towards realizing dreams and fostering future champions."

Dr. Nida Hussain, Pro Chancellor of Ziauddin University, shared her thoughts during the ceremony, stating, "Today's inauguration of the Ziauddin University Football Ground is a momentous occasion for us. It reflects our steadfast dedication to providing a well-rounded education.

This ground isn't just a field for matches; it's a field where aspirations take flight and futures are shaped. Moreover, I express my gratitude to Mr. Michael Owen, notable players and the other team officials of Pakistan Football League for graciously sparing his time to exclusively visit Ziauddin University in Sindh".

During the inaugural ceremony of the Ziauddin University Football Ground, several notable players were also present, including Michael Owen, Emile Heskey, Pascal Chimbonda, and Raul Rodriguez, marking the event with their esteemed presence.

Additionally, the delegation and officials were in attendance, further highlighting the significance of the occasion. Students and kids from other schools were also present, cheering and taking pictures with the football players, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
