ISLAMABAD: Nation celebrates 77th Independence Day with traditional zeal and enthusiasm and with renewed resolve to work with spirit of Pakistan Movement to make country true Islamic welfare state.

Day dawned with thirty-one gun salute in federal capital and twenty-one gun salute in provincial headquarters. Prayers were offered after Fajr for security and progress of Pakistan and well-being of people. It was public holiday.  National flag has been hoisted at all important public and private buildings.  Partition and creation of sovereign Muslim state was dream of millions of Muslims of subcontinent. For purpose of separate homeland, Muslims had rendered matchless sacrifices, faced hardships, migration and left long trail of heroic struggle for generations to come.  Partition had also witnessed huge migration in human history: Muslims from India to Pakistan and Hindus from Pakistan to India. Day was also marked with celebratory events of flag-raising ceremonies, parades, change of guards, cultural events, award-winning ceremonies, patriotic songs and national anthem.  Pakistani diaspora and missions around globe also celebrated day with patriotic zeal.
