Rupee records marginal decline against dollar

KARACHI: Rupee registered marginal decline against dollar, depreciating 0.02 percent in interbank market. At close, domestic unit settled at 277.74, loss of 0.06 paisa against greenback.

In interbank market bid rate for dollar was to Rs 277.74 and for offer it was to Rs 277.94. In open market movement, rupee lost 10 paisa for buying and 3 paisa for selling against dollar, closing at 276.81 and 278.66, respectively. Against Euro, unit gained 1 paisa for buying and 2 paisa for selling, closing at 297.84 and 300.55, respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, it remained unchanged for buying and gained 1 paisa for selling, closing at 75.22 and 75.91, respectively. Against Saudi Riyal, unit lost 6 paisa for buying and 7 paisa for selling, closing at 73.52 and 74.17, respectively. Globally, dollar eased touch, though remained not too far from its recent high ahead of major US data releases later in week. US dollar was headed for its best month in 2-1/2-years on Tuesday, as it eyed 3.5 percent gain against basket of currencies. US dollar index was little changed at 104.28. Oil prices, key indicator of currency parity, were little changed on Tuesday. Brent crude futures climbed 4 cents to $ 71.46 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude was down 1 cent at $ 67.37 a barrel.
