Sindh Cabinet approves reserved seats for LG councils

KARACHI: Sindh Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah approved reserved seats for Local Government councils.  As per official sources, these reserved seats are for six categories. They include women, youth, labourers/farmers, non-Muslims, special persons and transgenders. Sindh Cabinet meeting fixed price of sugarcane at Rs 302 per 40 kg. It approved start of crushing season from November 20.

Cabinet also decided to fix quality premium at 0.50 paisa per 40 kg. Sindh Home Department reduced span of sentence of nine prisoners convicted by Anti-Terrorism Court on basis of education. Prisoners whose sentence had been reduced by months between six and 22 passed Adib, Matriculation and Intermediate examinations.

Abdul Jabbar, Muhammad Ali, Syed Amir Hussain, Khalid Abbas, Syed Shahzad, Ali Raza, Syed Nair Raza and Khalid Aziz were among prisoners whose sentences were pardoned.  Cabinet also approved handing over control of malnutrition programme to PPHI. Sindh government started Food Emergency Programme in 2016 under Accelerated Action Plan. “Health Department achieved Accelerated Action Plan’s targets. A budget of Rs 2.9 billion has been allocated for year 2022-23,” meeting was told.

Cabinet approved purchase of buses for Rs 1.7 billion on request of Transport Minister.  Culture Minister Sardar Shah requested Cabinet to run buses for tourism as well. CM directed Culture Minister to submit his proposal in writing. Cabinet discussed Anti-Narcotics Force to run four drug rehabilitation centres and proposed rehabilitation centres in Karachi. Sindh ministers, advisors, special assistants, Chief Secretary, P&D Chairman, Principal Secretary to CM and secretaries of concerned departments attended meeting.
