KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Transport Sharjeel Memon said that provincial government is willing to introduce electric taxis.

In meeting with delegation of Chinese automobile company GAC and Dewan Motors to discuss introduction of electric taxis in province, Sharjeel Memon said that Sindh government would create conducive environment for investors.

He said that new taxi service would also generate employment opportunities. He assured Chinese company of Sindh government's cooperation in investment in province.

"Sindh government would provide infrastructure and facilities for electric taxis," Sharjeel added. He said that establishment of charging stations and smooth regulatory process would be ensured. During meeting, GAC's general manager briefed Minister on electric vehicles while various options were also discussed for launching electric taxis in Sindh.

Earlier, he announced to launch pink taxi cab service for women in Karachi. Pink taxis would be driven by women while cameras will be installed inside cars. He said that pink taxi service is being launched on directions of FM Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Meanwhile, Sharjeel Memon has called on people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to reevaluate their situation, accusing ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government of neglecting region's employment needs. Despite being in power for three terms, PTI has failed to provide adequate job opportunities, leading to an exodus of workers seeking employment elsewhere.

He criticised PTI's founder for being driven solely by personal gain, rather than loyalty to party, country, or its people. In meeting with delegation of journalists from KPK Memon expressed his warm hospitality and shared his concerns about PTI's governance. He compared current visit of KPK journalists with recent visit from Lahore-based journalists, both aimed at assessing Sindh’s development projects.

He stated that Thar Coal will resolve Pakistan's long-term energy crisis.  CyberKnife technology at NICVD is serving patients from countries like Afghanistan and Iran. Gambat Hospital offers free liver transplants. Sindh launched EV Bus and Pink Bus services for women. Following vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, 2.1 million houses are being constructed, he informed. Government has initiated solarization system to address energy crisis.
