PM lauds his team’s efforts on successful SCO, UNGA visits

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated his Cabinet members and senior government officers over success of his visits to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Samarkand as well as 77th session of United Nations General Assembly in New York.

In his opening remarks chairing Cabinet meeting, he apprised Cabinet members about his participation in SCO Summit and bilateral engagements on sidelines with leaders of member states including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Central Asian leaders.

He said during discussions, connectivity with Central Asia through gas and rail were discussed and a task force had also been formed to move things ahead. Moreover, he said flood situation was widely discussed during summit and was also highlighted by leaders. He thanked Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, State Minister Hina Rabbani and Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman for their great efforts and homework. He spoke high for role of Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb over effective media coverage highlighting Pakistan’s perspective. He welcomed Ishaq Dar who assumed office of finance minister hours ago.

He called him an experienced politician and successful finance minister and prayed for his success. He also appreciated performance of ex-finance minister Miftah Ismail who had saved Pakistan from default situation despite poor performance and lack of commitment by previous government.
