Sindh govt raises utility allowance of employees

KARACHI: Sindh government has increased utility allowances for government officers working in provincial secretariat and assembly. According to details, Sindh government has increased utility allowances of officers of BPS 1-8 from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000.

Meanwhile, allowances of officers of BPS 9-15 have been increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000. Likewise, government increased allowances of officers of BPS 16 and 17 by Rs 10,500 and Rs 22,000 respectively. Earlier in day, Pakistan Peoples’ Party led Sindh government froze development budget of all districts except Karachi’s seven districts as province suffers from heavy flooding.

Department of Planning and Development has issued a notification and informed all relevant authorities regarding freezing of funds. Government announced budget of Rs 332 billion for 4,158 projects throughout province. Funds have been frozen so that amount could be used for relief and rescue operations instead, sources said.
